My 1st 420 Party

“The news of Columbine rocked the whole country. It was a bad 420. Makes me want to smoke.” – Kavita Greenwood Village

My 1st 420 Party by NoRulezChris

I lived with four girls and another guy. We lived next to the coolest neighbors ever. I was rapping with John over a bowl of ganja, “We should throw a 4-20 party at your place”, I said. My roommates smoked the green sticky icky, but a bunch of people in the house were a no-no. The girls went to school at Colorado State University. “Dude, we were just talking about throwing a small get-together.” I was fairly good friends with my neighbors. It was a house filled with CSU students, also. T Bone, Ress, Josh, and Max with Indy the dog agreed on the party, the date was picked, the location was Fort Fun, and people were RSVPing.

It was April 20th 1999 on Mulberry in Fort Collins Colorado, the day of the party. The house is packed with people blazing chronic. We all passed our herb around, most everyone was holding. We decided to make one huge joint with a bunch of different Marijuana. I collected weed from all over the house. Almost every person pitched in a few hairy nuggets or some brick sticks, and seeds, schwag. We smoked it all and combined the variety of buds as my only guy roommate at the time, Bob made a few papers stick together and rolled a massive Bob Marley-type spliff.
We all shared the spliff and everyone was stoned. I had to take a shit so I head next door to my crib, entering through the front door, where I see my roommate Kate crying. She points at the TV, and there is a school out in Littleton Colorado, where Kelly is from, called Columbine High School, that was being shot up and high schoolers were dying. My first celebration was forever marked by grief. News of the tragedy had spread by the time I drifted back to the party. The united house was clearing out, reality kicked me in the gut, and wrenched everybody’s heart. My first 420 party was the day I saw my first high school murder. April 20th 1999 will go down as a horrible day in history.
